I never got to like Haurchefant very much. This was before the voice recasting for ARR. He grated my nerves and was very broody. Come the Post ARR, it pushed me further to dislike him because he was suddenly very friendly. Edmont, however, real class man. He was a father of three boys, he was accepting of us and our situation and was warm and welcoming once he understood we weren't bad folks. Edmont is what made me emotional, a parent losing a child. His breaking down is what struck that chord, I feel I'd failed Edmont.

How about I've already done with that and I just want to gain another hero points to unlock my other elite specs but the hero points not increasing anymore

Burning out is in every game and even life you will have, repetitive things gets boring easily for long period of time, i played tf2 since 2007 on and off, but always came back until 2020, felt no more interest playing anymore and its been 4 years since didn't touched it.

It hits even harder if you played through it the first time as a healer. The cutscene did not change originally so you are standing in the back as this super powerful healer and DOING NOTHING.

They are all low complexity.

A lot of people don't see why FF14 isn't designed, like WoW, to let you very rapidly level to the current xpac and then quickly to max level 'when the real game starts'. It's because so much of the impact of the story, at least through Endwalker (I have just started Dawntrail, so can't comment) is based on payoffs for things you did long ago. I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but there's moments where there's callbacks to a lot of the older content, and it's a reminder of why your character matters, because they've touched so many lives along the way, that you're only capable of achieving your goals because so many different people all owe you gratitude and have a chance to pay you back.

I'm excited about the homestead and I hope it's more of Drizzlewood Coast and less SotO. I think SotO is not particularly bad but not good either. Has been a common theme for me ever since PoF where I just don't like the characters. The story telling has been on a steady decline as well. It's always the same pseudo-"heroic" bs. I'd like to be just an adventurer again, not a different flavor of "the chosen one". Anet is trying so hard to make everything so high stakes but can't create any tension. The constant breaks of "complete nearby events to help a story NPC" doesn't keep up the momentum of the story either. I didn't mind the Kryptis as a whole (kinda like the Destroyer in EotN) but the whole story arc around Dagda, Peitha and Eparch, forming an alliance with them, etc was just lame imo. Why can't we just get a cool enemy, strikes, raids, .. whatever (repeatable content) and instead are constantly bombarded with politics..

My priority list was 1 build 2 gear 3 first chapter in POF for raptor 4 first chapter in HOT for glider 5 pac commander mastery for auto loot. Steps 3-5 make everything so much easier

Elementalist is so fun for me and I'm just leveling. I've tried other classes but i love how many options i get

To this day I think the core function behind Elementalist was a mistake. Not a bad choice and not bad design, but the fact that every new weapon they release takes 4 times the amount of work for one profession is heartbreaking. A design choice I think ArenaNet regrets having made back when they released Guild Wars 2.

I honestly have been much of a Final Fantasy person, I grew out of my anime phase in my early 20s at university but I had multiple friends say how good FFXIV was, especially in the last few years. I took the plunge in 2021 and I haven't looked back, moments like this are what really stick with you, I won't spoil anything but there's a moment much later into the Shdowbringers expansion that had me openly sob, the emotional gut punch was too much, absolutely amazing game and one I'm glad I gave a chance. Honestly, this is a quest line one should DEFINITELY play twice, because of how good it is, and, well. Other reasons.

Like you said, I love (narratively) how you can't unlock DRK until after ARR. I completely agree with the decision to change that the new classes moving forward, but I think it legitimately makes DRK better because it is one of the lowest points in the WoL's story.

Best quests in the game. And also the closest the WoL ever gets to therapy.

This month they are testing new 64bit servers. So if it goes well. All those servers will be upgraded to 64bit servers and hopefully the lag will go away.

Game's become such a chore - you can do a lot.. you HAVE TO do a lot every day. Hence it burns you out rather quick

Been playing fairly regularly since day 1. GW2 was really hard for me at first since I had never played one before. SOTO has really taken some of the fun out. The story feels so out of place and is ugly to me. Plus I could not play it when it first came out and so many of the masteries depend on completing group content. It’s hard to do when no one is there any more. It makes it harder to play the game as you describe…being able to pick it up and put it down. I am frustrated with achievements. Like to click those boxes off 😂. I do appreciate your content and honesty and hope you find it fun again.

Never knew there were training videos. Am on my 4th reroll of Ranger. Seeing all these training videos. Made so many mistakes. Never used that boost. Though cannot access the wizard vault until 80. 40 more levels to go.

So short summary; Endgame is non-exsistant.

Tbh Most of sotos best came from the first major update including the story. 2nd and 3rd update just felt rushed the story was good when it was about the astral ward and the villain being Cerus but when Eparch came it became good demons vs bad demons and it just got boring. And just llike you I thought it felt more like a paid living world season than a full expansion. Their old model is much better using living world as filler DLC to set up expansions. In terms of lore Janthir wilds looks promising we get to see the white mantle back and its focused in centrel Tyria. Also map wise im getting real tired of drizzlewood meta focused maps. I want hearts and random events that arent tied to a meta. It gives the player more meaning to explore the world. If anyone is on the fence for the upcoming expansion wait until the 2nd major update before buying it.
